Due to their powerful and coulourful sound, during the 16th century alta capella ensembles were much sought-after, especially for festivities in churches and other large spaces. As such Aeolos can easily be combined with a vocal ensemble or choir, in which case we would highly recommend that there be at least two or three singers per part. If an even larger ensemble is desired Aeolos can easily be expanded to include additional wind instruments – such as cornettos and sackbutts – or viols and keyboard instruments, thus forming a veritable „orchestra of the renaissance”.
